As a military family we enjoy the travel that comes along with being stationed all over the world, but it can be tough being away from our original homes and all our family. I am truly grateful for my Military Family I have collected along the way after almost 14 years of moving around.
Who exactly am I talking about when I say my Military Family? My Military Family are the people that have come into my life at various times in this Military Life adventure, they have been there when my biological family couldn't be. When I didn't know a soul as a new spouse moving clear across the country. During my pregnancies, one of which was in an overseas country and another a planned homebirth. Once when I was a new mom, had a deployed husband and was very sick at home people stepped in and checked in on me. Then again when I was not a new mom, but too sick to care for my youngest and needed meals delivered. People who were near-strangers at the time jumped up to help me. Sometimes they were there when I just needed a hug or someone to vent to. I could go on and on about the countless times people were willing to help me at the drop of a hat with no expectations, only knowing I was a sister spouse in need of help.
These people are my family, and even though we move apart, just like with my biological family, we retain that connection, that sisterhood, even after years of living away from each other.
The Herradas are true Ohana. It was so special to me. I was happy to have been able to give them a great photography session experience. I was overjoyed when they asked me to capture their family while they were here in Honolulu, Hawaii on vacation. It had been over 3 years since we had been stationed together, but we picked up right where we left off like we were never apart. The nice thing about knowing people all over the world is you can always find a place to stay. :) I love to capture family sessions in a lifestyle beach style, to document the playfulness and silliness that families might have on a casual after dinner evening stroll on the beach.
For my Herrada Ohana:
Until the next time our paths cross, I hope you will treasure these precious memories I was able to capture for you, and they are displayed in your home with the pride of the beautiful family you are.
